The Foundation: Built on Grit

Born on November 8, 1976, in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, Prakashkumar’s story is one of overcoming the impossible. Raised in a seven-member household supported by a father working at a local cinema, he learned the value of a rupee early in life.

Educational Resilience Starting in English medium for his early schooling, financial hardships led him to join an Ashram Shala for Standards 1 to 7. He adapted to every challenge, never letting circumstances halt his education.

The Uniform of Service Immediately after completing 12th grade, Prakashkumar dedicated himself to public safety by joining the Police Commando unit, serving with the same discipline he once showed on the athletic field.

Academic Ambition In 2008, driven by a desire to lead, he appeared for the GPSC exams and completed a year of LLB studies, fueling his goal of becoming an IPS officer.

Athlete’s Spirit His discipline extended to the field, where he excelled in sports throughout his secondary education.

The Catalyst: From Professional Roots to Public Service

Prakashkumar’s path to the IPS was unfairly obstructed by systemic accusations. Rather than letting this defeat him, this experience became his "Masterclass in Governance." By working alongside leaders like former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela, he shifted his focus to ensuring the system works for the people, not against them.
